If you notice a transaction that you didn’t authorise, let PayPal know right away in the Resolution Centre:

  1. Under 'More about your account', click Resolve a problem in the Resolution Centre.
  2. Click Dispute a Transaction.
  3. Select Unauthorised transaction and click Continue.
  4. Follow the steps to report the transaction.

Remember, you’re protected against unauthorised transactions sent from your account.

Be sure to check your pre-approved billing agreement payments. This charge could be from a service you signed up for in the past.

Here's how to check and cancel your pre-approved billing agreements:

  1. Click  Settings at the top of the page.
  2. Click Payments.
  3. Click Manage pre-approved payments.
  4. Select the merchant's name or email address.
  5. Click Cancel.

If you have reported the unauthorised activity, please now take additional security measures:

  • Change your PayPal account password.
  • Remain vigilant of any further activity.
  • Secure other related accounts, such as your email service.

Once your case has been filed, a specialist team will look into it further and determine the outcome. You will receive an update via email when a development has been made to the case.
