Hello,
I've been asked to update my account with proof of identity via proof of bank account and residence. This isn't a problem of course and I've no problem with PayPal knowing everything, but I don't want my actual name to be visible to purchasers. Is there anything that can be done? Thanks!

No, a buyer has a right to the name or business name of the seller.
If you try and use a fake name then at some point your account would be frozen OR you would be unable to withdraw any funds from your paypal account.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
