Text message from UK number claiming to have detected unauthorised access to account.

Hi!

I've just recieved a text message which says:

"We have detected unauthorised access to your account. Please login at https://paypal.signin.limited.com to unlock your account."

from UK number <removed>

While i'm 99% sure this is a scam text message, while i'm used to cold calls and scam emails this is new to me so I would like to make sure. I have not clicked on the link, neither on my phone or pc as I write this!

If I get a cold call I can usually google the number to see plenty of other people getting calls from the same number, warning of it's danger. Nothing shows up in searches for this number or website link!

Would just like to warn other users and Paypal themselves of this!

Send it to spoof@paypal.com

If its a spoof, DO NOT USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/ text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email link to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.

I received a text message today at 19.04 saying :

PayPal:We have detected unauthorised access to your account.  Please login at https://restricted-user-paypal.com to unlock your account.

I don't believe this is genuine and am not going to respond - the telephone number it was sent from is +4[Removed. Phone #s not permitted]
