Pending refunds can only happen for two reasons.

1. The seller has issued a refund from their bank account which takes time to process.

2. You funded the payment to the seller using bank transfer. What PayPal do here is credit the recipient on your behalf (so there is no delay in despatching your item). Then if you receive a refund in the meantime they are unable to issue this until the original bank transfer completes.

Hi Thanks for the info. The refund from the seller mentions an echeck which I have never heard of.

An echeque is just a bank transfer payment via electronic and not wire transfer so a lot slower.

Paypal uses that option as its the cheapest option for them.

Normally if you pay a seller its never instant, paypal credit the seller for you and paypal take the long  wait for the bank transfer (echeque) to clear.

But for refunds or for adding funds to your paypal account yourself, then you are the one that takes the wait.

The echeque would be option 1 as per my post above.
