Thank you for that question!
Some of the people on the community are PayPal employees. You'll see them listed as Employee, Moderator, or Administrator.
The rest of the members are not employees. Some members use their own time to provide answers in the community. The reward is mostly just the good feeling of helping others. There are also some recognition badges that can be earned through participation.
