Being charged sales tax on in state ebay purchases. WHY!

I just purchased from an in state seller and there is sales tax added to the bill. The seller emails he did not request it , who has added this? Does Ebay/ paypal now charge sales tax? I will take my business to Amazon .

The application of tax to a purchase is determined by the individual seller, not by PayPal or eBay. 

This is a setting on the sellers account - I'd be willing to bet it's an honest oversight on their part.

If your seller has incorrectly applied tax to your purchase, I would recommend suggesting to him to partially refund the transaction.
