Are there any fees for paying a private person via credit card?

I need to buy something from a private individual.

The amount that I need to pay him is $4000.

I have a checking account and a credit card linked to my paypal account.

I don't have that much money in my checking account so would like to pay via credit card that's on file.

My question is will I or the other person get charged any fees? (I WILL NOT be using gift option. This is for goods)

Do I get full protection just in case the other person does not send the items, etc? (just little worried since I don't know the other guy)

There won't be any invoices, just a simple one way payment and the shipment of the items from the other party.

Welcome to the boards!

Yes, your receiver would pay a fee on a purchase payment - check out our FAQ here.  Our full fee schedule can also be located at www.paypal.com/fees.

Thanks!
