"Money request canceled" email from someone I never contacted

Money request canceled email received from a person I've never contacted. Thought it was a scam but i checked the "from" address and it's from pay pal.

Even the "to" designation was wrong.

My name isn't even Kyle <removed>.

What is happening? Is my account compromised?

I've just received the same kind of notification today from an alleged transaction in 2009 which mentions a vendor I've never used and a product I never would have bought.

Like the op - sending address looks fine.  Never had something like this before.

I just got one saying a PP money request from 9 years ago was cancelled.

The upsetting thing is that it is from a friend who passed away from COVID in January.  I don't recognize the email address at all.
