I was going to make a purchase on Facebook Marketplace, but the seller is only using the selling feature on messenger, so it is not protected by Facebook.  But, there is an option to use Paypal in the checkout, is that protected by paypal buyer protection?

Be careful Social Media is full of China sites selling tat.

Buyer beware.

Read up on buyer protection and then risk assess your own transactions.

Paypals buyer protection is not a coverall OR an insurance policy and has many limitations.
