Hi. I’m Ava and I’m 17 years old. i’ve been using paypal for a while to sell my items on Depop. i’ve sold 23 things so far and it’s been a big help for me, because i do not make much money at my current job. I love selling clothes and it’s a fun hobby for me. Recently, many of my transactions have been put on hold for a month each time i’ve sold something. after awhile i realized i needed my identity info so i uploaded my SSN and drivers license. after that, i received a message that i cannot use paypal anymore and can no longer sell items as well. To me, this was very depressing since it’s a hobby of mine that also helps me make a living. Paypal is the only way i can get my money through depop, and i’ve never heard of having to be 18 until today. i’m very saddened by this issue and was wondering if there was any way i could get some help:( i don’t know what to do. i just have a whole line of clothing racks in my room full of clothes i had posted. someone please help me.

Paypal does not allow account holders under the age of 18.

PayPal asks for a birth date when you register so whilst you can make a PayPal account with false information the account will need to be verified to accept funds into your balance or lift any limits.

As you would be unable to verify your account it would be permanently locked for further use.
Minors can’t enter legal contracts so you may not have any recourse to get your money back until you were 18, unless customer services allow you to transfer the funds to a parents account, not guaranteed however.

You would never be able to use that illegally opened underage account again but once 18 Paypal may allow you to do a withdrawal of funds from that account.

OR they may allow you to open a new account and transfer the funds across for you. The latter option is not guaranteed as you have already broken their rules once but you should get one of those options.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.
