buyer claims Item is different"

I sold an item and when the buyer received it, they filed a claim that "Item is different". The item I sent was brand new and exactly as described, and I responded to the claim stating that. The buyer is not responding to my PayPal messages (I've sent 3) and I cannot contact them anywhere else. I don't want to escalate to PayPal because that could potentially take another 30 days and I don't have that kind of time. do these type of claims expire if the buyer isn't responding? If so, after how long?

Buyers don't file claims, they file disputes, so if its still in the dispute phase then if not escalated by either party it will time out 20 days post opening.

However if it does get escalated then paypal gets involved and normally decisions are made within about 10 days BUT if paypal finds in favour of the buyer they will have to return the item first before you have to refund.
