I bought a drone on <edited>Payments done via PayPal. Inc. Then I found payment was to ZG TECHNOLOGY CO.,LIMITED. I then googled and found both are scam opererators. I emailed the seller as per the email on PayPal and returned undelivered. Will PayPal return my money? I lodged a complain with Paypal, but after reading all these complains, I find it strange that PayPal still service this seller.

Just a little info. As I tweeted a Class Action lawfirm to give theminfo on an action request against @paypal, I got someone from @askPaypal who tweeted me back and asked informations on my problem. I simply forwarded him to this post and then I was told my case would be reevaluated by specialists in the near future.

First things first you guys, PAYPAL, need to merge your posts together because it's obvious there is one company who is regularly changing their company name here. There honestly needs an active moderator who is merging all these threads together if you are truly collecting information. EDIT: thank you, it looks like you've merged a few today. still a few more out there but it's easier on everyone to have one hub for this.

First it looks like it was:

>> ALLWAY (click here for one of many long posts in the matter) (and this one)

>> Next it was this one ZG technology

>> Then Fingertip interactive or Fingertip tech or Fingertip technology.

>> Now the newest one is Ivory Tower Tech Co., LTD who has website surprise.shopping *this is the one that got me*

linking these three posts (plus this one) as well for your collection of information as the OPs have identified more companies linked to ZG technonlogy / Allway / Ivory Tower.

EDIT: I'm going to keep linking threads that relate to this scam.

[unknown] watch scam

If you read all these threads there is a trend, how can this not be the same group???

The trend is:

1. a quality item is advertised on a social media platform at a reasonable price. Buyer is taken to a website when social media link is clicked.

2. buyer purchases

3. fake junk item arrives instead

4. buyer tries to get refund back from paypal but is told they first have to ship item with tracking and once item arrives refund is given.

5. paypal gives a address (I wish paypal has checks involved so fake address are not given but this does not seem the case) item is never marked as received as the seller address just doesn't exist so buyer is out of pocket for fake item plus new costs shipping.

6. After a while scam company changes it's name and sets up new website, rinse repeat 1-6.

To me a solution would be to allow attachments on claims so buyers can show paypal what was posted (it's laughable how different the item is) and once verified it's a purchase from a scam site a full refund is given, none of this posting junk item back nonsense, they say it's policy but how does this response fit into buyer protection policy? how does withholding funds until more money is wasted on the scam protecting us? ethically and legally that doesn't make sense. The buyer should be protected not punished more under buyer protection policy.

Since I think Ivory Tower Tech Co., LTD is a part of this I'm posting my experience here.....

Here is my post

but I'll paste the overview here.

I purchased this:

c-500x500

I got this:

sNWo1Z1

I escalated the claim and asked paypal for a refund but was told in order to get  refund I need to ship item back with tracking which, for me in a rural location is a fortune as it's not a simple trip up the road. Petrol plus driving through a current snow storm also play a factor right now, I only have 3 more days to find a post office to ship this.

just discovered (from reading posts on here) we have all been given different shipping address for Ivory Tower Tech Co., LTD so even with the extra cost of tracking our parcels will never be marked as received because how is it possible to have so many different addresses for the one company?

I have asked paypal to waiver their ruling on posting item back, waiting on response, I will also include this post to help me.

Paypal staff should take note of the different websites this one company runs!

Also why, knowing this company is a scam, does paypal allow the same company name to sign up with them? surly a ban from both company and person would help to stop them scamming us? I'm so confused, not my first time let down by a seller but definitely first time I'm scammed like this (shipped a bootleg item and expected to post item back before refund). So confused they can get away with this.

EDIT: I have a paypal linked to my CC, is it true, if paypal doesn't help me, if I go to my bank paypal will close my account? I just read that... that seems really mean and unfair for a company that claims to have buyer protection ??? Super surprised paypal isn't on top of this, if a giant like facebook has to answer for it's wrongs against it's clients I think it's only going to be a matter of time before paypal has to answer for their policies with these scam companies... and honestly in the short term just give us our refunds without posting the fake items back?! I mean come on you don't expect that with digital goods and some damaged goods so why do we have to do it with these scam fake items?

what about the people who didn't use PayPal? If they are stopped using PayPal they can still continue in operation by just taking payments by cards. There must hundreds of people who have paid by card and got scammed but they wouldn't be aware of this forum as they didn't use PayPal. So the amount of people who have been scammed is probably a lot bigger than we know

Good work, but this highlights another issue. PayPal seem to be reacting to some people that have been scammed because they are shouting loudest. There seems to be no standard response to all and they are just plugging leaks. Very shoddy behavior from such a big company

Hi,

We used PayPal to pay a US based Merchant - Ivory Tech for online shopping and the Merchant defrauded us. Sent us wrong product and has no way to reach out to the customer care as they dont appear to be a legitimate business - We say Pay Pal and made a Payment of $100. Is there a way to raise a dispute on this as PayPal Invoice we got did have a Customer Commitment for Money back andDispute resolution. Can Some one help.

regards,

Vaibhav

Ivory tech is a hong kong base (or china depending on what address is given) and a part of the ZG tech / Allway scam group. I'm going to link this post to the main ZG techonolgy thread to raise awareness.

I was also scammed by them but on their contact page they had australia (where I'm from) as their home base so that's how I got sucked in.

In the meantime open a claim then escalate. Paypal will say post item back but write a message saying they're apart of the ZG technology scam group and ask for a refund without shipping... well that's what I did and I haven't had a response as yet but trying is better then not trying.

If you can take a screenie of the sale page, they're scammers so after x amount of sales of fake item they remove a page, you can still google images though for at least a picture of the item you thought you were buying, my ivory tech company was surprise.shopping so I searched in google images 'surprise.shopping then the item's name' save the photo's url. Next take photos of the item you got and upload on a site like imgur and grab those urls, when you make a claim don't forget to mention it's a ZG tech scam, then paste this link and say paypal is aware of it (they need to read the 'solve' response because it's not solved as mentioned by the paypal staff member. Then paste all your picture urls and say you want a refund without needing to ship item back.

good luck.

good luck.
