Why can't I make certain payments without a creditcard?

Let me start off by saying: The only reason I use paypal is so that I can make payments where "Ideal" is not accepted. I do not own a creditcard and I don't want one.
Recently I wanted to buy something from the humble bundle for 12 dollars. I have more than 12 dollars balance on my paypal account. However when I want to do the payment, I have to give my creditcard credentials, which I don't have. I just want to spend the 12 dollars from my paypal account. Why the hell do you need a creditcard that I don't have? The money is in my account so just use that.

Some sellers or merchants prefer that a credit card us used for payment.
You may want to contact Humble Bundle with your concerns as they do accept PayPal however, it's possible that a credit card is required.
