Unresolved dispute closed

Hi guys, I opened a dispute with a company that ignored my requests for a return address so I could send back my item for a refund. They eventually got back to me with an address after more than a week; I've sent the item back but it's currently with customs in their country. Paypal told me my dispute would be closed unless it was resolved or escalated by Jan 31st, so as it's not resolved I logged on today (Jan 31st) to escalate it - only to be told it's now been automatically closed. If the seller fails to keep his word and send me a refund when he receives the item, do I have any options for reclaiming my money?

Sadly not, why on earth did you not escalate it before the date it timed out arrived???
