I got an email in Chinese from paypal saying I added some crazy email to my account so I didn't follow the link, I instead went to my computer opened a tab and went to paypal.com. upon checking someone had logged in and added a crazy email address and changed my security questions to Chinese. I updated password, withdrew all money and changed security questions. I also opened a paypal claim in the resolution center stating unauthorized activity with a brief description just a few minutes ago and paypal has already closed it. Is it resolved? am I safe? Is there anyway I can verify its signed the so called hacker out?

Oh @HeavenMarie, I am so sorry you experienced this!

You absolutely did the right thing changing your password and reporting the unauthorized activity. From your description, it sounds as though the report has been reviewed by our security specialists, and the account has been re-secured. I know it's scary when this happens, but you are 100% protected on any confirmed unauthorized activity. The main things is to make sure that the password is unique and not used on any other websites. These fraudsters obtain passwords through many different processes so if you happen to use your old password on other websites (especially online banks or credit accounts), please change them at your earliest convenience as well. I also would strongly encourage running a antivirus scan to catch any possible viruses or malware.

If you need anything at all or would like someone to look into your account for you, please follow the Help & Contact link at the bottom of the page, or you can also reach our customer support on Facebook or at @AskPayPal on Twitter.

I hope this helps and thank you.

Michelle
