Trying to receive payment for an old bike sold on ebay

Hi,

I just sold my son's old bike on eBay. The buyer has paid the money but I have not received it. When I spoke to eBay they provided me with a PayPal transaction id. There are potentially two issues.

1. The email address for my PayPal account that eBay has is old, I changed the email address on PayPal some time ago. The fact the buyer has been able to make the payment though would indicate to me that this is not an issue.

2. It has been a long time since I sold anything on eBay so my PayPal account was not setup correctly. In the Resolution Center it is asking for a Purchase receipt from my supplier. As the bike is at least five years old I doubt I have any documentation for it and anyway when I go to resolve the issue it says I cannot upload any documentation that is older than six months.

Any ideas on how I get to the bottom of this? There does not seem to be a way on PayPal to talk to someone so that they can check what is happening withe this particular transaction.

Thanks for any help.

Andrew

Did you change the email address to the new one when you listed the first auction after the change in the paypal payments box?

Go to ebay and click on 'sell' put in anything (as you aren't going to actually list anything) until you get to the main page > scroll down near the bottom and where it says payment methods check the email address that is on that page, is there a spelling mistake or old one?

If its the old email address then if you still own it then 'add' it to your paypal account as you can have up to 8 on the 1 paypal account and the funds should show, if not then................

You need to contact your buyer(s) and ask them to see what it says in their paypal accounts either:
1. Pending / Unclaimed with a cancel option.
2. Pending / Unclaimed.
3 Completed.

If its:
Pending / Unclaimed with a cancel option.

Ask them to cancel the payment but tell them that it will take a few days to go back to their funding source. Then get them to use the "send money" > Goods/Services option and pay to your correct email address. Tell them DO NOT use the Ebay option or it will direct them to Ebay checkout and the same thing will happen. They may not want to do this and so you could then cancel the transaction. OR you can send them a money request.

Pending / Unclaimed.

If there is no cancel option then the buyer will get their money back automatically 30 days after paying.
Again they may not want to pay you again until they get their money back so you may need to cancel the transaction for them.

Completed.

If its completed then come back for more advice.
