The buyer lied he didn't authorize the payment

I sold a used watch on eBay 2 months ago.

The buyer received the watch and left the message that was great.

After 2 weeks, he broke the watch and asked me suggestion.

Finally, he sent the watch to a guy to fix, one month later he sent request to return the watch, because the guy can't fix it.

I rejected his request, then I claimed the PayPal case said it was not as described, PayPal also rejected his case.

Finally, he claimed a new case he told his bank he didn't authorize the payment.

PayPal asked me to deposit the money in my account until the case finished.

They suggested me to sue the buyer who is living in New Mexico, I'm located in California.

Is there anyone has such kind of experience? Thanks.
