Storm Media Limited, Fraud?

As I was going through my receipts for taxes I noticed an entry on my PayPal for Storm Media Limited for last July. I order art instructional videos often, but I could not find any other info for this. I was charged $24.92.

Has anyone else had problems with Storm Media Limited? I didn't get whatever this company said I ordered. I don't know what it is.

I would like to warn others that this could be a fraud.

How do I open a dispute with a seller when a purchase goes wrong?

You can open a dispute in the Resolution Centre of your PayPal account within 180 days of payment if:
•You don’t receive the item
•You receive an item but it’s significantly different than the description on eBay or on the seller’s website

By opening a dispute, you can communicate directly with your seller to work out a problem transaction.

If you reach an agreement with the seller you can close the dispute. If you're still not happy with the result, you can escalate the dispute into a claim. We'll review the claim and decide on reimbursement.

These steps apply to Personal accounts. If you have a Business account, please log in to see the steps that apply to you.

To open a dispute:
1.Log in to your PayPal account.
2.Near the bottom of the page, under 'More about your account', click Resolve a problem in our Resolution Centre.
3.Click Dispute a Transaction.
4.Select the button beside the transaction you want to dispute, then click Continue.
5.Select ‘Item dispute’, click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note:
•Generally buyers must wait at least 7 days from the date of payment to escalate a dispute for an item not received
•Where an item has not been received, please ensure you have given the seller enough time before opening a dispute

https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/first-dispute

DO NOT CLOSE THE DISPUTE UNTIL YOU HAVE A CLEARED REFUND OR YOUR ITEM WHATEVER THE SELLER SAYS. ALSO DON'T FORGET TO ESCALATE THE DISPUTE TO A CLAIM WITHIN 20 DAYS IF THE SELLER DOES NOT REFUND.

If that does not work then if you funded your paypal payment via a card then contact your card issuer and see if they will do a chargeback for you.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Twice now I have gone thru to PayPal to purchase something but then decided not to confirm purchase to then be sent an email saying Thanks for your purchase, so I go to Paypal to see that Storm medial has taken the money from my account. As I did not confirm purchase how is it this company can help themselves to my money without my authorisation? This has just happened to me for the second time this week! I don’t know the company is storm medial (aka storm media) until they help themselves to my bank account. Direct messaging them on fb is no good as they say it isn’t there department. I’m furious and very concerned that they r basically stealing money from my account and PayPal aren’t stopping them. I’ve contacted PayPal with regards to the unauthorised activity but in the mean time I’m around £30 worse off and have been left with an empty bank account😡

Sorry that happened to you. This same thing has just happened to me. I never clicked "confirm purchase," but still received a charge. I immediately filed a report for fraud, and called as soon as Paypal customer service opened. They advised me to changed my fraud report to "item never received" (which is odd, because I never ordered the item in the first place, and to me, it skirts the issue here, which is fraudulent activity on their website) but I changed it, because they said that's how I would most likely get a resolution. Immediately after I got the email saying Storm had charged my account, I searched the company, and found a ton of paypal complaints. I asked the customer service rep why they continue letting this company use their service when there were so many fraud reports in their own forums, and they replied that they would no longer be working with this seller. I'm not naive enough to believe that my one little $20.00 fraud case was the last straw for Paypal, or that the customer service rep could make that decision on the spot. I do hope Paypal will take all of this into account and terminate their relationship with this company. Guess I'll find out in a few more days if I get my money refunded.

Locate transaction in activity page, click on it, click "Report a problem". (Don't try to file Unauthorized Transaction dispute at this juncture because you knowingly made payment. PayPal will close it.) Choose Item Not Received as reason.

Disputes: You can open a dispute if you didn’t receive your item or it’s not as described. You can open a dispute within 180 days of the transaction date.

By opening a dispute, you can communicate with your seller in the Resolution Center. You can request a refund, return the item, and/or ask the seller to re-ship the item. With a dispute, PayPal doesn’t get involved or decide the outcome. If you can’t resolve the issue, you can escalate it to a claim. You have 20 days to resolve a dispute. After 20 days the dispute will automatically be closed and you won’t be able to re-open it.

Claim: If you can’t reach a resolution during the dispute process, you can escalate the dispute to a claim. When you escalate to a claim, PayPal will get involved and decide the outcome. PayPal may email you to provide additional information or to ship the item back.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

When the item arrived did you quickly go and 'change' the dispute from non receipt TO not as described before paypal closed it?

Most certainly I'd say.   Very much the same as everyone else on here.  I bought one of those anti RFID card holders.  What arrived was an empty metal case.

Looks like it's going to have to be one of those 'put it down to experience' situations.

What a bunch of *******!
