Returned item in order to receive refund

I returned an item in order to receive my refund - the seller wasn’t at home when the item was delivered. There is a tracking number and I paid for special delivery which is how I know this. If the seller never picks up the returned item from the post office for example - will I still receive my money. Surely they could choose not to retrieve the item and then PayPal would have no guarantee it was returned to them. PayPal do however have the tracking details as I provide them during the dispute. What will happen? Would I still receive my money? I am very worried about this
