Hi, I purchased hair straighteners on eBay through PayPal a couple of weeks back. I received the below message on eBay : Your recent eBay transaction may be from a compromised account Hello chantal_d92, You were recently involved in a transaction for the following item: 222966523269 - Toni & and Guy TGST2988UK 32mm Infusion Hair Straightener Iron BRAND NEW SEALED We’re writing to let you know that an unauthorised third party may have accessed the seller’s account to list this item. The item has been removed from the site, and the transaction was cancelled. We ask that you take the following precautions: - If you already paid for the item, you may be protected by eBay. Open a request with the Resolution Centre and choose, "I bought an item. I haven't received it yet." You can access the Resolution Centre by visiting: http://resolutioncentre.ebay.co.uk/ - If the transaction doesn't qualify for eBay’s protection, please immediately contact the payment service used to request a refund. - If you haven't paid for your item, consider this transaction cancelled and do not send payment. In this situation, your account wasn't accessed by the third party involved. At eBay, we take a number of steps to help ensure the security of your account. Learn more about protecting your account at: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/account/protecting.html —- I attempted to go through their resolutions center but was unable to, the following message popped up: Sorry, we're unable to open a case for this issue We're sorry, there's an issue with this purchase. Unfortunately, we're unable to open a case for this item because of a possible payment issue. To get more information, please contact the seller. — I have contacted the seller multiple times and obviously not had a response. The straighteners weren’t costly but I am extremely annoyed that I am unable to get a refund for this item. Has this ever happened to anyone and if so, what was the outcome? Thanks in advance!

How do I open a dispute with a seller when a purchase goes wrong?

You can open a dispute in the Resolution Centre of your PayPal account within 180 days of payment if:
•You don’t receive the item
•You receive an item but it’s significantly different than the description on eBay or on the seller’s website

By opening a dispute, you can communicate directly with your seller to work out a problem transaction.

If you reach an agreement with the seller you can close the dispute. If you're still not happy with the result, you can escalate the dispute into a claim. We'll review the claim and decide on reimbursement.

These steps apply to Personal accounts. If you have a Business account, please log in to see the steps that apply to you.

To open a dispute:
1.Log in to your PayPal account.
2.Near the bottom of the page, under 'More about your account', click Resolve a problem in our Resolution Centre.
3.Click Dispute a Transaction.
4.Select the button beside the transaction you want to dispute, then click Continue.
5.Select ‘Item dispute’, click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note:
•Generally buyers must wait at least 7 days from the date of payment to escalate a dispute for an item not received
•Where an item has not been received, please ensure you have given the seller enough time before opening a dispute

DO NOT CLOSE THE DISPUTE UNTIL YOU HAVE A CLEARED REFUND OR YOUR ITEM WHATEVER THE SELLER SAYS. ALSO DON'T FORGET TO ESCALATE THE DISPUTE TO A CLAIM WITHIN 20 DAYS IF THE SELLER DOES NOT REFUND.

If that does not work then if you funded your paypal payment via a card then contact your card issuer and see if they will do a chargeback for you.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
