Paypal sided with buyer over scamming me, help?

Hi. I have been a paypal member since 2000.

I recently sold an iPhone on ebay, since I upgraded to a newer model. There was literally nothing wrong with my phone, it was in perfect condition.  A few weeks go by and the buyer is asking for $30 because it wasn't as described, but he's speaking in broken English and not saying what the actual issue is. He also called it an 'internet magi phone' and said that 'pink nail spot interferes with use'.

I was very confused as to what he was talking about, so I asked for clarification multiple times but he never responded.

In the end, Paypal agreed with his request and will refund him the full payment. This doesn't make any sense. He provided no photos, and never said what the actual issue he was having was. It came across as a scam so I am blown away that Paypal sided with the buyer with no evidence whatsoever, and such a confusing, vague description that didn't make any sense. HELP.
