Paypal denied my unauthorised transaction claim for a scam transaction

Paypal denied my claim when I lodged a unauthorised transaction claim - there's a transaction on my account that when i googled the name it came up as a scam - I have no idea what the "item" is that I supposedly bought and I have nothing to find out - no emails saying I purchased anything. There's a shipping number but the link doesn't work. It was back on 3rd September so I don't know what this "item" is that I supposedly bought nor do I have it. But I now can't open any more claims on this transaction its absolute crap so much for Paypals so called "buyer protection"!!

Just got an email back from the "help desk" it wasn't even read by a person I got a robot reply. Load of bull.

I'm in a similar situation. Yesterday someone logged into my Paypal and made a transfer . I've never seen the email or the name of the person it was transferred to.
It worries me that it's even possible for someone to hack into my account and then Paypal instantly denies and tells me there's been no unauthorized access  when I try to make a claim !!!
After waiting for 15+ minutes I got in contact with a "support" person. In quotation marks because I can hardly call that support at all. They won't tell me the IP address or the country the login was coming from. Obviously they can see that.
Also told me that I can't get my money back and I have to make a claim to Visa.
I've been a Paypal customer for 10+ years and I had plans to open a Paypal business account, but I will no longer do any business with this company.

I'll try and get my money back and then I'll close my account for good.

Yup, welcome to the Ebay-Paypal circular firing squad. You got 2 options. Close account and move on, or use 2 part authentication (send paypal login code to phone) and by all means UNLINK your ebay account from your paypal...DO NOT USE the always logged in method or 'always use paypal' as the prefered method of purchase. Seems Paypal doesn;t want to believe that your account accessed from Serbian IP is not you. Ebay will be quick to tell you its an unauthorized purchase but will tell you to go to paypal to get a refund. Paypal will see it as NOT unauthorized and will deny your claim. Appeal it 3X and you cannot make ANY OTHER claim on that transaction, they will close it for good. Best bet is to open a not as described if it is a goods.

I just appealed the denial of my claim that the last 2 transactions were not done by me. Cloud storage and Office CD keys. Both in US dollars so I'm charged quite a bit. I called the support line and spoke with someone who was friendly and assured me a human will now review the transactions.

I insisted these are fraud and can't they at least see where the confirmation emails went when the purchases were made. He said yes the emails went to you at 3 am and 11 am. What?!! I have checked my inbox, junk folder and deleted folder. I never got any emails. But PayPal can see emails being sent to me? How is that possible? Where did they go?

So after calling and explaining that 2 transactions were fraudulent and unauthorized, they denied my claim again:

We received the case(s) you filed on February 2, 2020.

We have reviewed this transaction(s) and are denying your case(s). This decision was made because this transaction was not unauthorized.

We're sorry for any problems you may have experienced with the transaction(s).

Sorry for any problems?!! I have been robbed! Someone used your service to steal from me.

It is clear that PayPal is a corruptible, insecure service that cares little for the harm it can cause. It is far too easy for others to access your money and get away with it. What I read in their reply is: we have been paid, thank you for that.

I can live without PayPal. I can't live with others stealing from me. So closing my PayPal account, and encouraging others affected in the same way to do the same, seems to be the only recourse I have. Even if I could recover my money through my bank, PayPal is too risky to continue.

I received a notification that I sent over 4G to someone I dont know in Canada. I denied the sale at once and was denied by the automatic. I then called Pay Pal and they claimed (in an incredibly hard to understand Indian accent) that the charge was made by my device which was next to me at the time and I was home alone. My bank of course declined the charge since it was more than was in my account but my PP account is now at -3900+ . Paypal is pro criminals.

Hello paypal

This way I will tell my story with the unauthorized transactions that took place last weekend, february/08/2020.

On Saturday night I was contacted by a paypal user that a amount of $ 500 had been paid from his account to my account in three different transactions, and that he would call the police if I did not pay him back. I I'm not arguing, I want to help the man as soon as possible, I log in to paypal, and when there in addition to his payments I see my payments also went to another paypal account. I would like to draw my attention here that paypal  although I have, set in the settings to notified by mail for each transaction, there was no notification at all.

I had $ 700 in my account + 500$ from a guy who discoverd something is wrong,  A total of $ 1,200. all that money was sent from my account through 5 transactions into a person's account that when I contacted him said he couldn't make a refund because bitcoin was purchased for that money.

Of course I was not affraid at first becouse I  naively believed there was a paypal behind me that would solve this problem. I'm using the opportunity here, so I'll quote paypal from their site, PayPal Purchase Protection.

“We monitor every transaction 24/7 to help prevent fraud, email phishing and identity theft. Every transaction is heavily guarded behind our next-level encryption. If something seems suspicious, our dedicated team of security specialists is immediately on hand to help protect you from fraudulent transactions. And remember, we never ask for any sensitive information from you in an email. "

Unfortunately that was not the case, and as far as I can see I am not the only one, and there are many such cases.

Of course, I immediately filed a dispute for an unauthorized transaction for each transaction, and within a few hours I received a "Case Closed: Transaction not covered"  shock, disbelief and a slight confrontation with the truth that paypal does not have too much will and desire to help its users . They stated in the notice that they had thoroughly reviewed my case and that there was no indication that the transaction was not authorized. Which would mean that I sent $ 1200 in 5 transactions to a person I never communicated with in one day. Really? If you  just checked the IP address from which my account was accessed, you would have realized that it was not nearly the same country, maybe not a continent, and I can prove that I did not travel those days.

In the meantime, the user who sent me $ 500 also filed a dispute for an unauthorized transaction, and even though I know, he knows and paypal knows that the transaction was not authorized, I received a notification: "We've closed this case in your favor" asks again really?

As soon as I could, I contacted my bank and asked for my card to be blocked, but besides, I didn't manage to deal with them too much, because of course they have no authority over paypal. But they also told me, like any responsible financial organization, that by any chance I paid through them and that it was an unauthorized transaction, I could easily request a refund or reverse the transaction.

Of course I checked my only two devices to access the Internet from viruses and malware, but everything was clean.

The people who have committed these scams obviously know what they were doing, and above all they know that paypal does nothing to protect its users and thus only motivates them to continue their activities in the future.

No one in paypal deals with the disputes for an unauthorized transaction, but it is done automatically, by computer program, script, not a person.

I am now in the phase of paypal phone calls. I am in Europe, Ireland (Dublin) is in charge of my region. I called once, the operator was kind, they listened to me and said they would check my cases again. Indeed, in the status of all 5 transactions there was a "revision" notification, but after a few hours again the message for all transactions was "Case Closed: Transaction not covered"

I called a second time and again a kind person answered me, she heard about my problem and that she would do her best to solve the problem, and that they  will contact  me trough email.

In the meantime, I called the police to consult, and they told me to try again with paypalo and find a solution. If it is not possible for me to contact them, they will escalate this case to Interpol.

I am currently waiting for a paypal response.

the previous two emails I sent remained unanswered, and yes i  check main pre-approved billing agreements

For one thing i m sure, I'm not going to give up my money so easily.

I asked them 3 times to check into unauthorized access. denied every time and now I cannot appeal anymore. Seems 3x is all you can appeal. My issue had to do with ebays "paypal auto login" feature so it was authorized according to paypal (who told them it was an unauthorized transaction) but they didnt care, not their issue. I recommend 2 part authentication (cell phone text code) when logging into paypal.

My story starts with a company shopto.net. I didn't even know they existed in this world until yesterday when under category "Entertainment" someone purchased £30 worth of items. That were my whole savings for this week due to not work as staying home due to Covid 19. Cut long story short quickly changed password put 2F authentication on my account and contacted shopto.net - they were rude and tell me to go away they have nothing to do with this payment etc or can give me any advise or help. Left with no money so contacted Paypal and they on their messaging service made me wait for 3 hrs atleast and then told me same story your claim is denied as payment is authorised. I have literally begged to adviser that these are all my savings so help me and been informed there is nothing that can be done.

Appeal will be denied for sure so how on earth this company claims to be world best when they cannot detect fraud payment. I am left with no option but to wait until next week to go back to work. Shameful and disgusting the way they treated me.

I am so disappointed with this overall experience.

Anyone can suggest anything to do in this situation.

Thanks

This happened to me too in being denied. I just now provided images of this Russian hacker using a OnePlus 5 phone (google activity shows Russia) that ended up using my google play and subscribing my account for 5 apps I've never downloaded before especially when they have Russian text in parentheses for the apps in question. 1 app subscription for paypal here and the other 4 by using my debit cards which I had linked to my paypal so I had to go and immediately take off my debit cards and deactivate them as a result.

 Google Play Report.png

This happened just when I got to around getting my stimulus check deposited too. 😞

My bank has provisionally given me back my money and so now I'm just waiting on paypal here for the 1 app in question.
