PayPal going to permanently hold my money

When creating an a PayPal account with my son, I mistakenly used my son’s credentials instead of mine. My account is limited because I have no ID for son as he is underage. I asked PayPal to change the name of the account and they said that it’s impossible even with correct ID. Before I realized all of this had happened, my son sold a quite expensive product, around $600 on gumtree and now the money is stored in PayPal with no way of getting it out. He was going to use this money to fulfill an order we made on PayPal after the product was sold, however now it’s impossible because now the money is stuck in the account.

Paypal does not allow account holders under the age of 18.
PayPal asks for a birth date when you register so whilst you can make a PayPal account with false information the account will be subject to sending and receiving limits.
When you reach those limits you will be unable to verify your account so your account would be locked for further use.
Minors can’t enter legal contracts so you won’t have any recourse to get your money back.

if the legal age for using PayPal is 21, he is 19, in that case he is underage. But your missing the main issue, I have no ID to unlimit his account, which was my simple mistake using his credentials.

Where did i say the legal age is 21? That is not what i said. Try reading the first line again.

However if the account was opened in his name when he was under 18 then it would be permanently frozen.

When or if your son is of age now he can open a new paypal account and then contact customer services and see if they will transfer the funds for him.

The account has nothing to do with you if its in his name and you can't unlimit an account made underage.
