PayPal denies we already paid them $795, refuses to investigate and denies our case

Our business has used PayPal for many years with few problems. In fact, at times they were actually helpful. However, in this case, they are being belligerent. Our company paid a vendor $795 through PayPal. PayPal paid the vendor, and the funds were withdrawn from our account by PayPal's own bank (Wells Fargo) and was paid to PayPal. However, PayPal is now saying we never gave them the money to make this payment and we still owe them $795.

We're a small women-owned company and I think it is inconceivable that this monopolistic company would take advantage of her and even refuse to investigate it further. All they have to do is call their own bank for proof that they were paid. 

Does anyone else know how we can resolve this issue?
