PayPal automatically declined our unauthorized purchase claim???

My wife's an absolute mess right now... her PayPal account was hacked just yesterday and someone fraudulently ordered over $800 worth of stuff. Even though she caught this in less than 24 hours, when she filed an unauthorized purchase claim, it was denied with absolutely NO reason given as to why. They just said "it was not unauthorized". EXCEPT IT DEFINITELY WAS UNAUTHORIZED!!!
What can we do?? We use PayPal because we THOUGHT the whole point was that we'd be protected if this ever happened. I'm absolutely shocked at the callous denial of our legitimate claim, without contact or explanation. We CANNOT afford to lose that money right now.
