Paid negative balance over phone. No record of payment.

Hello all,

I called collections on Friday to pay a negative balance. I had them take it off one of my credit cards that are on file. I didn't need to give them my credit card number. They already had the info, so I don't think it is fraud.

 

Today, 4 days later, my balance is still negative, and the money has been taken from my credit card. I called collections again, and they had no record of the transaction. They told me to call customer service, which I did, and will be on hold for 2+ hours. Does anyone know what's going on? This is absolutely ridiculous!

 

P.S. A little backstory as to why I had a negative balance: They charged a purchase to the wrong account, then had me call my bank to cancel the transaction instead of doing it themselves. The bank thought this was weird too and flagged it for investigation.
