Limitations on Account and Cannot Verify Identity as I am Overseas

Hi all,

I'm Australian and therefore have an Australian PayPal account. I am currently living in the UK and will be here for a little while before returning to Australia. Because I am overseas, my account has had a limitation put onto it as my location was considered suspicious - fair enough. This limitation is very difficult for me to resolve however, due to a foolish mistake I made whilst signing up for my account.

I need to verify my limited account with a utility bill or something of that nature, to prove my identity and address. I created my PayPal account with a false-name however, so this is literally impossible. For context: It's not so much a "false-name" as it was a poor decision - I wanted the project name to be seen when being paid and when sending payments, so the transactions came from an entity rather than a specific person. I realise my error in not creating a business account for that purpose.

Is there ANYTHING I can do about this?

I can't seem to get in touch with a real person from PayPal about this, despite trying to on multiple occasions. I am happy to have my account deactivated, but I would like to transfer my balance back to my linked bank account first.

Any help is much appreciated!

1.

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to open another paypal account in the country you reside in and add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

So providing address confirmation of a UK address won't lift a limitation on a Aussie paypal account and if you provide an Aussie address confirmation then you can't use that account in the UK.

2.

Now its been limited when you do get home and you can use the account again you won't be able to as you won't be able to get rid of the limitation as you have a false name on the account.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thank you for your reply!

I understand all of the info you have provided me with, but still don't feel the situation is resolved. Is there any way that PayPal can transfer the money to the bank account that was already linked to the account? This is the same bank account that I used to verify the account, and an account with my real name attached to it.

If there is no direct resolution to the situation, what happens to the $1.4k within the account? Does it stay untouchable there forever?

I won't be back into Australia for quite a long time, not that that really matters much as you've suggested due to the incorrect name on the account.

Any more info would be much appreciated! Surely there have been others who have been in a similar situation in the past.

Thanks!
