Hi my name is Tyler Edwards. I bought an iphone 8 from a guy selling them on snapchat. I got his information from a really popular meme page that has over 500,000 followers so i assumed he was legit due to his previous ads being legit. one day the page says he’s doing a deal so i buy an iphone 8 for the discounted price of £110. it was promised to come in 2-5 days. 2 weeks have passed and it’s nowhere to be seen. i tried asking him on my snapchat but he blocked me then i used another account and as soon as i said i’m waiting for an iphone 8 he blocked that account so i can tell there is something wrong. i don’t really know what to do so i need your help.

How did you pay ie which option did you use on paypal.

How did you fund that payment ie which funding source.

That should have been the first red flag that he was a scammer......

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a “gift” payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade his paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.
You also risk having your account limited for using this option when you are purchasing goods as its against Paypal rules.

Your only hope is if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately again as it was a 'gift' of money they may decline as well.
