Received a message via my phone that my PayPal account is locked until I send detail info as to my identity, password, etc. However, my PayPal account via my laptop does not show that my account status is locked or that any message was sent to me from PayPal. How do I know if I am being scammed? The website asking for info is not permitted for me to print out here.

PayPal will always address you by your first and last names or your business name.
From what you wrote, you already know not to click any links, and to check your transaction history.
Here are PayPal links with more info on how to spot fake emails and fake SMS messages.
