How to avoid claims with local collection and paypal payment

Hello,

First time using Paypal to receive funds.
I am selling a set of kitchen furniture and was contacted by a buyer who wants to pay me for paypal and send a moving company to pick up the furniture.
However, being a local pickup I would not have a tracking number to provide to Paypal to confirm that the delivery was made.
What is the risk that subsequently the buyer submits a claim that the merchandise was not shipped?
The transaction was not published by ebay or amazon, it was a local advertisement.
Thank you in advance for your help

In your case, it looks like you will need proof of delivery. But if they filed Significantly Not As Described dispute, you're not protected so you may be responsible for accepting a return and then refunding the customer.

"Proof of Delivery (for tangible items)" is online documentation from a shipping company that includes all of the following:

  • The date the item is delivered.
  • The recipient's address, showing at least the city/state or postal code (or international equivalent).
  • Signature Confirmation as described below for payments of $750 USD or more (or the following equivalents), save for Sellers having a PayPal Account registered in Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Ukraine to whom such requirement won’t apply):

Read PayPal Seller Protection Program:

https://www.paypal.com/al/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full?locale.x=en_AL#9

You may also want to look up the buyer protection program that would apply to you and the buyer according to what country they are located in:

https://www.paypal.com/al/webapps/mpp/ua/legalhub-full?locale.x=en_AL

Perhaps the best bet is to do cash and carry and not use PayPal at all.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
