How is a seller protected

Hi,

eBay transaction, item received damaged.

How is the seller made whole ?

Carrier insurance pays seller, who must turn it over to buyer for reimbursement.

Seller now has no item to sell and has no money to show for it.

I’m the buyer in such a transaction but, curious how the seller will fare.

That's not true, the seller would have your money for the item.

The seller is either forced to refund you first and they get the settlement from insurance claim and this evens things out. Nothing to resell. Or while the seller still has your money for the item, waits for settlement to come through from claim, and uses claim money to refund you. It again evens out.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Hi,

Sorry for raising this question.

It has dawned on me that seller has buyers money + insurance refund - buyers refund.

So, seller nets insurance refund.

Somehow, this escaped me when I posed the question.
