so i just got scammed through friends and family i have proof of the scamming but cause it was done through friends and family i cant refund it then i heard that if it was done through a credit card you can stop the transation or have it refunded but it was not done straight through my credit card it was done through my bank account which is attatched to my paypal can i still refund it or am i out of luck or even stop the transaction from going through
A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a “gift” payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.
You also risk having your account limited for using this option when you are purchasing goods as its against Paypal rules.
Your only hope is if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately again as it was a 'gift' of money they may decline as well.......its unlikely you can use a debit card to do a chargeback but no harm asking your bank just to see?
If its marked as money sent then paypal have credited the recipient in advance, if they stop the payment from their bank account then there paypal account goes into negative until they pay paypal back again.
