Fraudulent seller and I lost? why

I ordered a stained glass set of birds from an online seller, and to my surprise, it turned out it was from China. the total was $46.11

after a month of waiting, I received a small tin piece of junk so I disputed the transaction.

I sent pictures to paypal of what I got but the dispute was in favor of the seller...paypal decided that if I paid to the return the cheap tin junk I could get my money back...it would cost me over $50 to return this junk!

does anyone besides me find this disturbing? I cannot use paypal any longer if we are no protected by fraud.

Now, when I was sent the email stating that if I returned the item and I could get my money back OR I could wait until the case was closed and click "Dispute" in actions to open a dispute of the decision, there is now no option to open a dispute.

In the event of a dispute you choose your seller and not Paypal so you need to bear in mind possible return trackable costs before you go ahead and buy from that seller / country.

Paypal state this >>
IMPORTANT: You may be required to return the item to the seller or other party we specify as part of the settlement of your claim. PayPal Buyer Protection does not entitle you to reimbursement for the return shipping costs that you may incur.

Although they will compensate you for some of the cost if you have activated this at some point before you made that transaction.

You also have the option to do a chargeback via your card issuer instead of a Paypal dispute if you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card.
