Fake when to escalate?

I think a pair of trainers I have bought are fake. Do I wait for the sellers reply or escalate straight away?

Up to you but don't let the dispute 'time out'.

As you had up to 180 days to open a dispute it may have been best to have got written proof from trading standards OR a shop that sold the genuine thing and if you had supplied that to paypal then if you win you 'may' not have been asked to return them first before you got a refund.
