I’m the Treasurer for a nonprofit and received an email from PayPal saying our organization needed to confirm our taxpayer status in order to avoid being cutoff.
When logging in a screen pops up To Confirm Your Taxpayer Status. I select EIN as ID type and it populates our business name and it asks for Taxpayer EIN. When I enter our organization’s EIN, it is rejected.
I am am absolutely positive it is the correct EIN and I have made multiple attempts and been rejected every time. I am getting the EIN from IRS letter 147C. PayPal instructed me to provide them this official letter from the IRS last Fall. I did that.
Our organization is is a charity and we cannot afford to have our donations that come through PayPal suspended. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
