I was victim to this scam too back in September last year. I ordered a born again life size baby monkey (22 inches) all dressed up. What I received was a 5 inch hard plastic toy monkey. Opened a case with PayPal,  provided all the proof needed with photos of the add and photos of the item I received. In the end I was told that I had won my case and would be refunded once the buyer received the returned item. The address I was supplied with was all in Chinese and when I asked PayPal for a translation, the case was Closed.

I contacted PayPal and was told that a decision had been made not to reopen the case. I sent PayPal numerous messages all of which were ignored.

I have the nagging feeling that some people working at PayPal are getting backhanders  from this company, as I found out on here that a vast amount of people had a similar experience.

My advice is, do not buy from China.

They are lying cheats. Why should we give them money only to be cheated and insulted by receiving a piece of rubbish even a £1 shop wouldn't sell. Then to add insult to injury paypal do not follow their guarantee that they will refund money for an item that is not as described, having received all the proof they needed.

I remember that a person also in this community ordered a musical revolving Christmas tree and all they received was a picture of the said item.

That goes to show just how ruthless and cruel these people are and they are laughing all the way to the bank because they know they can get away with it. I check on ebay that the seller is not Chinese before I buy. I also check in shops to see it an item was made in China before I buy, that is how serious I am about not buying anything from China. Wish everyone would do the same.

I was also scammed by this company last year and got nowhere with PayPal. Rcently I received from another company unwanted cheaper goods and went through the same process Offer of refund much less that I had paid, refused, was asked to send back the goods which I did, Pay’Pal accepted my claim to refund the whole amount and I also asked for reimbursement of the postage to send back the goods. I agree: do not buy anything from China on line, they are a bunch of crooks.

Seems to me if PayPal knows they are scammers they would let u know. But I suppose as long as they get their cut they don't care if u get scammed. And WILL NOT help u recover your money.

Chinese Web Sites or on Social Media ads easy to spot (once you know the below signs) so buyer beware.

Paypal would not be able to check every individual seller / merchant / company in over 200 countries worldwide that adds paypal to their website to accept payments.

So they give you 'some' buyer protection but the onus is on you to risk assess your transactions.

They do stop bad companies from using Paypal when enough claims start rolling in.
However as they are in China (mostly) then its easy for them to just start over with a new name, so stopping them does not really do anything.

The best thing is to not buy from them in the first place, to recognise them -

1. No return address on the returns policy. The site will look as if its in your country (where they despatch goods from) but they will ask for returns to go back to China (returns depot) at a shipping cost often more than the item is worth.
2. No contact telephone number. if you click on contact the most you will get is webmail or an email address.
3. Rarely company address information.
4. Great pictures of items at bargain prices that turn out to be tat.
5. Fake reviews.
6. Google and you can often see previous company names as they change them once enough claims roll in and Paypal stop them using their services and start over.
7. Send fake tracking numbers to win item non receipt of item claims.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.
