In February I saw an advertisement on Instagram for what appeared to be quality pants at a low cost through a company called https://www.qugoal.com/ . I ordered the same size of the 5.11 tactical pants that I have a few pairs of; two pairs for $80 CDN, to get free shipping. When the pants arrived in March the size was much smaller than what my 5.11s were.
I initially contacted them for a refund, citing concerns about quality and issues with sizing given these were unwearable and painted on vs. all of my other pants of the same size. They requested photos of the pants which I provided. To this they said they could provide a 10% refund and to keep the item, adding “If you really don't want to keep it, you could send it to your friends or family as a gift or donate it to someone who like it.”
In my third email I reiterated that this was not acceptable and I referred to their return policy on their website. While the site appears legitimate, there was a concerning line stating “qugoal.com reserves the right to deny any return.” Further adding to my concern was that different emails were provided between my initial receipt (<removed>) , notification of shipment (<removed>), and once the product arrived (<removed>). Upon Googling these emails and qugoal I found a host of complaints about shoddy or unreceived products. Apparently this company is what’s known as a dropshipper which sells poor quality products from China. The pants were charged to my credit card, and upon raising the issue with them as long as the seller provided something resembling pants I had no recourse. Further, the transaction was charged via a PayPal account (PAYPAL *TINYUE QUGOAL[Removed. Phone #s not permitted], but because the product was not purchased from PayPal directly, there was no apparent recourse. If anyone can raise this with Instagram please let me know how you managed to do that, as again, there appears little recourse.
To my third email they offered a 15% refund, followed by an offer of a 20% refund, further having the audacity to request that I provide them a positive review (given that evidently all I was able to find was exclusively negative reviews). My requests for exchanging the pants for a pair that fit was also met with offers of discounts on subsequent purchases. In the five emails I had sent they never provided an actual location of where to ship returns to, avoiding the request, making me highly skeptical that even if I spent the money to send it to them that a refund would be forthcoming.

If you used PayPal guest checkout, you can still open a dispute as Significantly not as described with the receipt ID number found on the PayPal email receipt with their customer service. But the challenge is still the same, PayPal does cover items that are as described but did not meet expectations, don’t fit, changed mind, etc, a’ la buyers remorse reasons.

- Click Dispute a payment.
- Click Call Us, Message Us after “This information might help” or use the green live chat or Message Us box that appears.
Beware that unless you are buying authentic merchandise from a brand that has western sizes commissioned to be made in China, the sizes will run small. And always research a merchant/domain name before buying.
The best you can do is get the biggest discount you can from the merchant and donate the pants to charity and get a donation tax write off with your receipts.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
