I opened a claim which has now been closed. Then the seller said he would refund the money, he is struggling to do this because it’s stating I have a dispute open but I don’t!

If you had to close a case to get a refund then it would be pointless opening one.
NEVER close a dispute / claim until you have a refund.
If the seller issued a refund then that would close the dispute automatically.
If he doesn't escalate to a claim.
Do not close it or he can ignore you and you can't open a second dispute OR re-open a closed one.

Hi I didn’t close it, PayPal did. So basically the purchase completed before I selected PayPal credit so I opened an unauthorised payment claim which unsurprisingly was closed notnin my favour. No issue I thought as the seller messaged in response to an earlier message asking him to cancel my purchase and refund, the seller very kindly agreed and attempted to do this but it then didn’t allow him as it seems to be registering the claim as open and not closed.
