Automatic Closed Case on a Dispute

I have filed a dispute with a vendor and am awaiting response. If PayPal reviews the dispute and auto-closes the case, what does this mean for this situation?

They would only close a dispute if you filed for 'unauthorised' and it wasn't.
If its an item not received dispute OR item received but not as described then paypal do not get involved until its escalated from a dispute to a claim.
Advice is voluntary.
