The dispute stage is for negotiations between you and the seller. If you can't sort things out then you escalate to a claim for paypal to step in and make any decisions.
NEVER let the dispute close or that would be the end of your claim and you would not be able to re-open it or open a second one for the same transaction.

So if an agreement been made in dispute but the seller doesn’t follow through on their part, then what happens for buyer when the timeframe lapsed and case auto close?

If the seller does not follow through then you make sure you escalate to a claim before 20 days.
