Amazon voucher as payment charge, is this a scam?

Someone has claimed tried to send me £5000 (for services as a “sugar baby” but which involve no sexual acts). However, it claims I need to buy a £100 Amazon voucher for the payment to be completed. I have received no email from PayPal and nothing about the request is in the app, is this a scam? For extra information, he has tried to send the money through my PayPal.me link under the category “paying for an item or service”, this seems too good to be true to me but I don’t see any way he could profit from it when I’m buying the gift card on my own account (he says it’s quicker to buy a steam card so it’s left pending less quickly but again, I see no way he could profit from this).
