Account Limitation with no explanation or communication

Hi

I've been a personal PayPal account holder for over 12 years - no problems during this time.

Five days ago, I logged in to make a simple, routine, small online payment. Payment would not go through. I tried several times. A little investigation revealed that my account had 'limitations' and an ominous message proclaimed that there was 'activity' on my account apparently in violation of the user agreement and i could not use PayPal ever again. 'Shocked' is a little bit of an understatement.

Worst of all, there was no explanation, or email communication.

I sent an email from my account - no reply.

I contacted PayPal through Twitter - got a reply but a standard generic reply about 'reasons for limitations' etc. They said they would put me in touch with a specialist - that was 4 days ago - nothing since.

Five days later - still no communication, or explanation.

I don't know if it is something I (unintentionally) did, or whether someone was trying to use my account - it's the lack of clarity which is the worst thing. If I knew, I could maybe start to try and do something about it.

I really find this situation difficult to understand. I wonder if anyone can help.
