About case for damaged item

I have a case opened because I received a damaged item. The item was received in pieces smashed .I escalated it on paypal .The time for seller to respond is 21 March.The seller did not respond and paypal is asking me to return the item .I stated that the item cannot be returned because it is in broken pieces.I think I am in risk of loosing my money although I have the right to be refunded. Please does anyone know at the resolution center there is a window saying respond.Should I press the respond button and how can I send pictures to paypal of the broken pieces I received.It is urgend I need help
