Hi everyone,
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. The holiday seasons are in full swing this month we decided to do something different. For the December Reward, since it’s the season of giving, we want to hear about what charities and causes you’re interested in. Post the URL for your charity on the community message board and include a brief description of what it does and why it matters to you. At the end of the month, we will randomly select 25 member posts who will each receive a $250 contribution, to their chosen charity, in your name.
For an extensive list of charitable causes visit Donate with PayPal.
Happy Holidays,
Louis

I like LDS Charities (http://lds.org/haiti-relief/relief/homepage.htm) because 100% of my donations goes to help disaster victims and other needy people around the world without regard to their religious affiliation and not one donated dime is used for overhead or any other administrative costs.

My favorite charity is the Coastline Community College Foundation (http://www.coastline.edu/foundation/page.cfm?LinkID=285). The mission of the Coastline Community College Foundation is to support students through scholarships, endowment and other financial programs to expand the capacity to meet the diverse needs of Coastline students and the community.
One of the areas that the foundation supports is Special Programs and Services. The Special Programs and Services is the home of the Acquired Brain Injury program that helps with the rehabilitation of people like myself who have suffered a brain injury. People with brain injuries are usually not able to return work and have a great financial need. The Foundation helps these individuals and the ABI program by providing tution support for students and equipment and supplies for the program.
The ABI program helps students to relearn lost skills or learn new strategies to compensate for abilities that have been permenately lost. I have seen, experienced and benefited from the tremendous work performed by this school and wholeheartedly recommend it for this award.

My favorite charity is House of Hope Food Ministry in Merritt Island, Florida. House of Hope distributes food to anyone in need, as well as clothing, household items, and even bicycles to help with basic transportation. Fantastic help and care for our local area, provided by local people, from the sponsoring church, First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, and many other caring people not associated with the church. You can learn more about House of Hope here: http://www.fbcmi.com/pages/ministry/houseofhope.html

Hi everyone!
My favorite charity is Food for the Poor because 96.8% of their expenses go toward the actual programs for the feeding and rescue of the poor. A small 2.5% goes to fundraising and a microscopic 0.7% goes towards administration. What a well managed charity. I really hope to win this donation for my favorite charity to help feed the world's poor.
Please check them out and make a donation now. 2% of my company's gross income goes to Food for the Poor.

My favorite charity is the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA). Pulmonary hypertension is a rare disease that affects mainly women and children. Pulmonary hypertension is, put simply, high blood pressure in the lungs caused my narrowing of the veins and arteries. There is no cure and it is terminal. There are many promising treatments and people are living longer and longer because of the treatments. The only other option is a lung transplant. I have pulmonary hypertension and have been approved for a double lung transplant. I am a 47 year old male. The main reason I like the charity so much is that they provide research and are a great help to the patients. I donate a percentage of some of my auctions to this charity and others. The reason I donate to PHA is that I go to my clinic and see patients 11 or 12 years old that are facing lung transplant. I know patients that are just little kids with pumps that put medication straight into their heart. I have meet brother and sister patients who have had to grow up with this terrible disease and I have seen the people in my support group pass away expectedly and unexpectedly. I donate to this charity for the generations that will come after me so that they may have a cure.

My favorite charity is the Exotic Feline Rescue Center, located in Indiana.
http://www.exoticfelinerescuecenter.org/home.html
It was founded in 1991 and provides homes for exotic felines (tigers, lions, lynxes, cougars, etc.) who have been abused, abandoned, or owned illegally. Many of them come from abusive circuses or private owners who do not know how to properly care for large cats. They are NOT a zoo and they do not buy, sell, or breed cats. You can visit the EFRC and learn more about these beautiful animals! It's an awesome place!
