I sent an echeck that was immediately canceled on Sunday. Yet paypal still took the money out of my bank account and no refund has been issued. What’s the deal with this and when will I get my money back?

Hi @Shotty44

Thank you for joining our chat! I'm happy to answer your questions about a cancelled eCheck payment. When a transaction is processed and a bank account is used to fund the payment, PayPal immediately places a request to the bank for the funds.

Typically a bank transfer to PayPal takes about 3-4 business days to clear in the U.S. If the payment is refunded or cancelled during the processing time, PayPal isn't able to cancel the request of funds to the bank. The money still processes to PayPal and the funds are placed in the sender's PayPal balance.

If you sent the eCheck on Sunday, I would expect that the money should post to your PayPal balance by end of day tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

Further info on PayPal and bank transfer processing time here.

I hope this helps!

I have another problem, when I try to confirm my PayPal Debit Mastercard, it always says there is a problem with your account and to contact customer service. Can someone explain the reason for this?

Hi @AnInnocentLlama,

Oh no! Are you trying to activate the card for the first time? If that isn't working on the site, you'll need assistance from a debit card support specialist. You can either call the number on the back of the card, or you can ask to be transfered after resolving that first issue if you do that by phone.

What will make my pending transfer to bank go faster so paypal will release it to my bank? Or how fast can I find out the issue and resolve it so it can be on my card?

Hi @Davis1103,

Welcome to the community! I'm happy to help shed some light on withdrawals. I understand that it can be confusing.

If you have already initiated a withdrawal to either your debit card or your bank, that transfer cannot be expedited or reversed. If it was a bank withdrawal, it may take as many as 5 business days to clear to your bank. If it was a debit card withdrawal, typically those take 30 minutes, though there may be a possibility that the withdrawal would be held for security review, which may take 72 hours.

I hope this information helps!
