Hi

 

I'm from the UK but am in the US for a few months and want to add my American Bank Card so I can pay for items on ebay from the US using that. How do I add this? It says I have to call the UK on a 0800 number but unfortunately that would cost a lot of money using my mobile over here. Is there any other way I can get it added or is there a US number I can call who can help me?

Okay thanks for confirming. Can you please tell me what you have completed so far on your PayPal account? Were you asked to provide documentation in your Resolution Centre or were you getting error messages as soon as you try to complete any steps?

Welcome to the Community!

 

At the moment, PayPal is a country specific system. I understand that you will be in the US for the next few months but it won't be possible for you to change the country of your PayPal account temporarily while you are there.

 

If you are trying to add a US card to your UK PayPal account, it might be possible for you to do this but it will depend on if the bank accept or refuse PayPal's request.

 

When you try adding a card, we send a notification to your bank and they approve or refuse our request to add your card to the PayPal system based on the information that we provide to them. As you won't be able to change the country, your billing address will be a US address but the country field will always show the UK. Because of this, your card issuer may refuse the request based on the country.

 

If you wish, you could register a new account in the US while you are currently living there. By doing this, you can add local information like your address and financial information and you will be able to use your new account without any issues.

Alternatively, if you can successfully register your card to your UK account, you should be able to use your UK account at that stage.

Yes in resolution centre.

Proof of identity is completed

Proof of address is completed

i have problem only with Personal Information.When i fill the field and then click next show me this message.I read that many people have same problem.

Hello

 

Thanks for that information. Is there a US customer service number I can call to talk to them about this or as my account is a UK PayPal account do I have to contact the UK customer service number? 

 

The card billing address is in the UK, but it instantly rejects my card as it recognises it as being a US bank card.

I understand. If you have successfully uploaded photo id and proof of address on your account, this will verify your personal information once the files have been reviewed by the relevant teams.

 

This should be done for you soon and then you will receive an update via email when there is any additional information for you.

Thanks for the update. If you wish, you can reach out to our customer service team in the US directly by calling them on +1 888 221 1161 and we can assist you further.

 

If your billing address linked to your US card is a UK address and this is the same address that you are entering on screen, it does sound to me as though your bank may be refuding PayPal's request to add your card.

 

When you are trying to add your card, our system would send a temporary authorisation charge to your card for the amount of £1.00. This would be refunded after a few days but your card issuer may be refusing this charge due to it being sent in a different currency.

Thanks David, as I thought - on a separate but related topic, I've signed up for PayPal Here just now and gone to purchase the card but it wont let me.  I have two factor authentication enabled and it seems to be throwing up an error, both on desktop and the app.  Any ideas

That's strange. Can you try this on Internet Explorer if possible and also try clearing your temporary internet files on the device that you are using to see if that helps?
