Welcome to the PayPal Canada Community chat! This week's chat is now open and unlocked.
Our moderator staff will be available for the next hour to answer your questions about PayPal, get to know you, or just have idle conversation. We do ask that posts follow the PayPal Community Help Forum Policy and the Forum Guidelines.
Once the session is over, this thread will be locked again, but you will be able to view the content in the forums. This chat is a regular feature every Wednesday from 4-5 PM CDT, so if you missed us this week, please feel free to stop by in the future! We want to get to know you!
Every week, we'll start out each chat with an ice breaker. While we're here to answer your questions, we're also here to just get to know you a little better. So stop on in, have a seat, and introduce yourself!

Hi everyone!
In 1902, the first modern electrical air conditioning unit was invented by Willis Haviland Carrier in New York.
Now, I wasn't around in 1902, but I spent my childhood in New York. During exceptionally hot summer days, my mother would take me and my sister on long subway rides so we could enjoy the air conditioning provided by the MTA. It was a relatively inexpensive way to beat the heat and do some people-watching. 🙂

I used to do a similar trick when I was in college and the dorm I lived in didn't have AC. I'd spend most of the day in the Student Union or the Library. I've always found it fascinating that without AC, the summertime seems to make me just so sleepy, so AC is a necessity this time of year if I want to get anything done!
Frank -
I suppose that's one way to beat the heat. So, I can have the AC from your place then?

Sure. 🙂 I'll go the hardware store and get a really long air duct we can run from my place to yours. 😛

That works for me! I'll be installing a new thermostat in your place too, one I can access and control from the web

Sounds good. Be right back, I'm going to go cancel my internet service. I'll also be running a power cord to your place too so I can plug in the air conditioner there.

That won't stop me, you know. I'll just use this to get in touch with the thermostat.

Hello,
My favorite way to keep cool is to just ignore the heat. I'm not sure if that counts. 🙂 I find that focusing on "keeping cool" just makes me think about the heat more.
