why an e-cheque?

folks, why , when i have my account linked to my bank debit account does paypal make certain payments an e-cheque?

i made 3 purchases in one evening , two without issue via my bank account yet one was made an e-cheque, why?

When you link and confirm a credit card, this acts as additional proof of ID, a backup funding source and allows you to do instant transfers verses sending eChecks or in the UK eCheques.  Without the credit card, you don't when PayPal will switch to using eCheques.
