recurring bills

I purchased a license to software over the internet and paid for it with PayPal. After I paid I noticed in the reciept that they make mention of it being a recurring bill (annual). I never intended to enter such a transaction with them. I then tried to open a case through Paypal to cancel the whole transaction but this was thrown out by Paypal because they do not provide the category for such a dispute

The merchant was safecart.com I went into my account and deleted the future payments for this merchant. What I am most concerned about is that they can over ride my instruction and still get paid paid in the future. On their receipt they mention that in order to cancel recurring billing I would have to log on to their site. But this is impossible for me because one of the log in criteria is credit card info and I paid via Paypal and would not givie this info to them anyway.

I am so stressed. I can walk away from the original fee, but I would like surity that they cannot get more of my money.

Thanks

Did you cancel the billing agreement?

Login to your PayPal Account.

  • Click on "Profile".
  • Click on "My Money".
  • Look for: "My Preapproved Payments".
  • You should see: "Manage the automatic payments, subscriptions, and installment plan payments I send to merchants".
  • Click on "Update".
  • Next, you will see all active and cancelled billing agreements/subscriptions listed on the screen.
  • Click on the service-name for further action.
  • You should see on next page terms of billing agreement/subscription, how much money you have authorized service provider to deduct from your account and few other details.   Most important is link to Cancel agreement, in case if it is active.
  • Note, when you click on Cancel, you will be prompted to confirm it once again.   Click "Yes".

I have done that and it gives an 'inactive' status. But I am concerned the company can over ride this. Because they mention that I should create a account on their site and log in and cancel it there, by giving credit card info (I refuse to do this)....All I want to know is that once it is inactive in Paypal they cannot get more money.
