Why is my £500 credit card PENDING?

I have chosen to pay a seller £500. I am paying via my credit card. Paypal have said the payment is pending..? Why? My account has enough in it to pay this amount. WHY IS IT PENDING?

Pending on your paypal account, pending on the sellers paypal account?

I have to pay the £500. I am paying via my own credit card. So the Pending is on MY card? I have sufficeient funds in my account, so Why would they put PENDING on my transaction? I don't understand.

So its pending IN your paypal account not just on your card statement?

If so thats very odd as normally paypal credit the seller and then paypal take the wait for your funds to transfer from your card.

Its not in another currency is it? Or is it a family / friends payment?
